About
SCHUYLER RAINE-MUSTAIN
color & CUTTING SPECIALIST
If you like big-idea conversations, philosophy, humor, or laughing about what a total lummox your partner can be sometimes (with love, of course), we’ll probably get along great. I enjoy real conversations—anything from day-to-day challenges to the meaning of life—and I take pride in creating a space where you can relax, recharge, and walk out feeling like your best self.
I’m a third-generation hairstylist, following in the footsteps of my mom and grandma. I started beauty school in 2002 after spending a decade as a union ironworker—yes, the kind who welds steel several stories up. That career switch turned out to be perfect training: both professions require precision, dexterity, and a strong sense of balance—physically and otherwise.
Over the years, I’ve worked in San Francisco, Carmel, and Beverly Hills. Those experiences taught me that people are people and hair is hair, no matter where you are. What matters most is listening carefully, honoring my clients’ wishes, and making sure you leave happy. I never forget that this is your time and your hair—my job is to make sure both feel well taken care of.
Over the past 22 years, I’ve completed more than 40 advanced cut and color courses and am currently a certified Matrix Hair Color Educator.
Beyond the chair, I’m an infinitely curious observer of the human carnival. I’ve studied everything from anthropology to environmental ethics to astrophysics, and I hold a B.A. in Sociology and an M.A. in Psychology. It all comes down to one simple truth: everyone has intrinsic beauty and value.
Nature reminds us that every living thing invests in beauty— think about the wings and plumage of a bird of paradise, the fiery coat of a red panda, the shimmery scales of a rainbow trout, or wildflowers blooming in a spring meadow. All living things express beauty in their own way—including you! It’s my glorious privilege to help you express yours— and help you become the truest version of who you are, inside and out.
SPECIALTIES
Women’s short precision cuts, long layered cuts, and men’s scissor and clipper cuts. Color is my true playground—from subtle 5th Avenue tones to Haight Street fun. I’d say my greatest talent is giving that pesky, aging gray hair a lively, natural look. Highlights, full color, and cuts are my main menu items.
